Israel's national security minister taunts prisoner (and vows more): MULTIPLE International Law/human Right/principle VIOLATIONS
BBC: Far-right Israeli minister taunts prominent Palestinian prisoner:
"New footage shared on social media shows the far-right Israeli minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, taunting the most prominent Palestinian prisoner, Marwan Barghouti...
The Palestinian Authority has condemned the video. Its Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh described it as "the epitome of psychological, moral and physical terrorism."
...is the first time that Barghouti has been publicly seen in years. He appears aged and gaunt.
Israel's national security minister, Ben Gvir tells him: "You will not win. He who messes with the people of Israel, he who will murder our children, he who will murder our women, we will wipe him out"...
The minister says that having read how "all sorts of "senior officials"" in the PA did not like what he said, he will "repeat it again and again without apologising."..."

The devil got y'all out here celebratin' sin
But in the end, God wins

VIOLATIONS...
1. The Third Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War
Article 13: States that prisoners of war "must at all times be humanely treated" and protected "particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults".
Article 17: Prohibits the use of "physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion" against prisoners to obtain information. It also states that prisoners "may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to any unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind".
2. The United Nations Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT)
Article 2: Explicitly prohibits torture and requires states to prevent it, with "no exceptional circumstances whatsoever" justifying such actions.
Article 16: Extends the obligation to prevent "other acts of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment which do not amount to torture".
3. The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)
Article 7: Prohibits torture and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment, with no allowance for limitation or derogation even in times of emergency.
Article 10: Stipulates that "all persons deprived of their liberty shall be treated with humanity and with respect for the inherent dignity of the human person".
4. Other international instruments
The Body of Principles for the Protection of All Persons under Any Form of Detention or Imprisonment: Principle 6 states that "no person under any form of detention or imprisonment shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment".
UN Human Rights Committee, General Comment 20, Article 7 (Prohibition of Torture, or Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment): Clarifies that Article 7 protects against both physical and mental suffering. This is particularly relevant given Ben Gvir's actions can be seen as psychological abuse.
Ben Gvir’s actions may also contravene:
The Nelson Mandela Rules (Rules 1, 2, 43).
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Articles 5, 12).
The Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officials (Articles 2, 5).
The Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials (Principle 15).
Customary International Humanitarian Law (Rules 87, 90).
Potentially, the Rome Statute (Articles 8(2)(b)(xxi) and 7(1)(k).
Middle East Eye: Exclusive: ICC arrest warrant applications ready for Israel's Ben Gvir and Smotrich on apartheid charges:
"...charges of apartheid are ready and with two deputy prosecutors at the International Criminal Court (ICC)...
ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan had prepared cases against Ben Gvir and Smotrich before he went on leave in May, according to numerous sources in the court with knowledge of the matter...
The newly elected US administration under Donald Trump sanctioned Khan in February, and he went on leave in May amid a UN investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against him, which he has denied...
MEE revealed earlier this month that Khan has been subjected to a string of threats and warnings by prominent figures, including former British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, as well as close colleagues and family friends briefing against him, and fears for the prosecutor’s safety prompted by a Mossad team in The Hague…
...despite continued pressure, the prosecutor's team of lawyers continued investigating alleged Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied West Bank. .."
