LBC's James O’Brien reflects: Explains 'The Con'
James O’Brien:
".I'll tell you what I'm good at - I'm good at madness...
..I’m very good at explaining the con… It’s why this program in the aftermath of Brexit, became something of a beacon…
The truth always matters, so, I’m good at explaining... - Because I have been blessed over the years…
Anyone who is still trying to straddle Brexit and Donald Trump, is gonna have to come up with yet another definition of sovereignty, aren’t they.
Just hoping that we might be exempted from the crass, obnoxious and belligerence, that’s he’s bringing to bear on every country in the world at the moment. So where does sovereignty slot into that equation? We’ve probably got less sovereignty, alone, than we would have had as part of a pooled sovereignty-pooled collective.
...I’m gonna add to the mix of questions – What happens next?.."

Sovereignty:
"The power of a country to control its own government:
Talks are being held about who should have sovereignty over the island."

ABC News: UK and Mauritius close in on deal over Chagos Islands after US signals its consent:
"Britain and Mauritius are finalizing a deal to transfer sovereignty over the Chagos Islands, a disputed U.K. territory that is home to a major U.S. military base, the U.K. government said Tuesday.
The government signaled that President Donald Trump’s administration, which was consulted on the deal, has given its approval and no further action is needed from the U.S."
National Sovereignty Vs. Globalization:
"Globalization is frequently discussed as a counterpoint to national sovereignty. It is commonly asserted that globalization has eroded national sovereignty or that it has rendered borders obsolete. In particular, it is asserted that, in a globalized world
economy, governments have no alternative but to adopt neoliberal economic policies of privatization, deregulation and reductions in public expenditure. However, in the contest between social democracy and neoliberal globalization, the nation—state per se is only marginally relevant. The crucial issue is whether policy will respond to the wishes of a democratic electorate, or be tightly constrained by the ‘Golden Straightjacket’ of international financial markets...
...this is a widespread opinion, States must be prepared to give up some sovereignty to world bodies if the international system is to function..."

Social Studies: State Sovereignty in the Age of Globalization: Will it Survive?
"The process of globalization undoubtedly contributes to the change and reduction of the scope of state sovereign powers. The list of threats to state sovereignty often includes global financial flows, multinational corporations, global media empires, and the Internet etc. At the same time (note that this point is debated surprisingly little and occasionally), since the end of World War II, increasingly more states have been willingly and consciously limiting their sovereign rights. And what is extremely important, many countries quite often give away some of their sovereign powers voluntarily."
The Guardian: All UK families ‘to be worse off by 2030’ as poor bear the brunt, new data warns:
"Living standards for all UK families are set to fall by 2030, with those on the lowest incomes declining twice as fast as middle and high earners, according to data that raises serious questions about Keir Starmer’s pledge to make working people better off."

The Q-Collective: Hard times:
"Read the headlines...
We’re just trying to make ends meet
Blind to the high crimes...
In the name of democracy, ha
So, tell me you feel it with me
You gotta believe it with me
We need to stand up and say that, we won’t take this sh** no more..."
Kill the Con Man: Militant Minority: As One:
"Invent the Future
Everyone's equal, nobody's left behind
No one is sacrificed for a comfortable life
No more hierarchies, horizontal liberation
No more oil, open borders, prison abolition
Let's all go burn down the police state
Take every industry our labor creates
Death of capital, markets are irrational
We rip this all apart, build a world for all of us"
