The National (13/06/2025): SNP Government rule out Scottish independence convention:
"The SNP Government has explicitly ruled out holding an independence convention this summer.
Culture Secretary Angus Robertson’s explicit statement came after First Minister John Swinney poured cold water on the idea at the SNP’s 2026 Holyrood campaign launch in May.
That in turn followed SNP depute leader Keith Brown telling party conference in 2024 that the SNP supported an independence convention including “all democratically elected representatives” from Yes-supporting parties ahead of the 2026 vote..."

The Herald (12/06/2025): Swinney responds to SNP rebels in plot against leadership:
"...25 attendees were at the meeting, with one stating the First Minister had two weeks to come up with a new strategy on independence - or risk facing a leadership contest at SNP conference in October.
It is understood the meeting was about forcing the party to move faster on Scottish Independence, however there was a unanimous view that the First Minister had "no intention of putting independence anywhere near the party's narrative".
Following FMQs, The Herald asked Mr Swinney if he was concerned about the briefings against him.
